Recently, someone significant shared how impressed he is with Calvary’s commitment to missions and outreach. That was firsthand. Even more recently, I was told (secondhand) of another person outside our church who had expressed the same thing. You won’t be surprised to learn that really excites me. Forgive me if I’m repeating myself, but I’ve never pastored a church with more passion for kingdom work beyond our own walls. I’ve never been in a church situated in a neighborhood with more opportunity for Gospel ministry. I’ve never been blessed with a more energetic, hard working, and mission-minded congregation.

Sure, we have our share of challenges and we have to contend with obstacles. But this is the nature of kingdom work. More than once in recent months, somebody has reminded me that Satan attacks where God’s work is being done effectively. Just a few mornings ago I was stopped in my tracks while reading 1 Cor 16:9 … “a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.” I don’t know about you, but I can resonate with that more than ever before.

I think it’s safe to say that opposition accompanies opportunity. Fortunately, Matthew 16:18 assures us that the even gates of hell won’t prevail against the church of Jesus.
For Him,
Bro Hal

42 All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper ), and to prayer.43 A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had.45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.46 They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity —47 all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-47 (NLT)
The Greek word for fellowship is “koinonia”, sharing together in close relationship with one another. Not just merely meeting together but sharing their lives together. Sunday I had an overwhelming sense of koinonia. Us sharing the Lord’s Supper together, sharing our gifts in the evening service, and fellowship around the table while eating ice cream. My prayer is that our koinonia is so contagious that the Lord adds to our fellowship daily.

     RADA CUTLERY FUNDRAISER
Our teenagers are starting the new school year with a RADA fundraiser. Some of you have been waiting for RADA to come back around because you know RADA sells only quality merchandise. Kitchen knives and utensils, stoneware, cookbooks, mixes for pies, cakes and chip dip, plus candles are just some of the items to choose from.
Please ask any Calvary teenager to see the beautiful, full-color RADA catalog. Forty percent of each purchase is profit to help pay for youth activities in the coming year. The last day orders can be placed is September 19. Thank you for investing in our youth!
MAGIC SPRINGS & CRYSTAL FALLS
We will be taking our teenagers to BAPTIST YOUTH DAY at Magic Springs & Crystal Falls on Saturday, September 18. Churches from all across the state will be there. Admission for the day is $20, plus each person going will need spending money. The $20 is due to Gary by Sept. 15. We will leave from the church at 8:30 a.m. on the 18th and return around 8:00 p.m.
I can't wait for the fun!
